For your way off-road. For more comfort. For the adventure.
Made to get you over rough and smooth. The rolling properties of the rubber compound of a tire are primarily determined by three interacting factors – stiction [grip], rolling resistance and mileage [longevity]. With Continental's Black Chili compound, a tread compound which is always based on the latest knowledge of polymers and raw material research, the cycling industry is supplied with an enduring solution. Depending on the application of a tire, the compound formulation is adjusted for the specific discipline.
For Black Chili, special synthetic rubbers are refined with proven natural rubber to high-performance tread mixtures. To these mixtures, soot particles are added, which are optimised in shape and surface properties. The carcass construction is robust and impervious against damage and penetration from foreign objects. The result: versatile, low weight and an attractive design. In addition, tires made using this technology can also be used as Tubeless or with an inner tube.
For E-Bike tyres, Continental falls back on over 100 years’ experience with moped and motorcycle tires. All city/trekking tires are rated to a standard speed of at least 25 km/h. Those tires marked e50 are also certified for S-Pedelecs. With their high quality structure, puncture protection is high and the rolling resistance is low offering protection from premature wear brought about by the additional driving force.
